Hello and goodbye and those disgustingly snobby Christmas letters

I'll be away from blogland for a few days as I'm having surgery tomorrow.  I will leave you with some winter ice pictures inspired by fellow Kentuckian, Jules @ Try to Get over the Rainbow.  These are from Jan. 2009.  We went two weeks without power.

Ice on power line

The boys only climbing tree was split down the middle as you can see the neighbor's house in the background is ice covered as well.

Stay warm, my friends!

A quick edit before bedtime...
Please, please take the time to read this article

Dad received a Christmas card from a distant relative and this was his response.  I laughed so hard I cried.  I laughed so hard I snorted iced tea through my nose.  It was the funniest thing I've read in a long, long time.  My Dad has got real talent.  He writes this weekly article without pay and every year for Christmas I tell my Mom I want a copy of each article.  I love getting that binder full of my Dad's meanderings.

Please take a moment to read this.  I promise you will laugh out loud!

Hoping all goes well with your surgery.I think you have some good helpers to give you a hand if needed. We went through the ice storms here a lot, it seems to be the worst of storms.Today we have a posibility. As a kid I wanted them so we could skate up and down our sidewalks.I wasn't aware of the other problems that could arise. I had one and ran a power cord to my neighbors after a tree took out their lines for over a week.

I'll be saying and sending prayers for your surgery. Thank you for the pictures that is exactly what I remember. Funny, how such destructive things in nature can also be so beautiful :)

Hi Cathy, Hope your surgery goes well. Guess --since I'm so new- I didn't hear what kind of surgery you are having. Hope you are going to be okay. No surgery is easy!!! I had knee surgery this past summer...

I remember your ice storm. It did so much damage... We are having some ice tonight here ---so I pray that it is just a LITTLE --and nothing major. SCARY!!!!

Prayers to you.
Hugs,
Betsy
