How to be funny

I am not the funniest person in the world.  I love a good joke, I laugh at the silly dorky comedies on tv.  Right now I'm on a Everybody loves Raymond kick.  Dorky sitcoms tickle me immensely.

It's not that I don't see the humor in things, I just usually see the irony.

So for kicks and giggles I decided to hit the search engines for tips on being funny.  I found lots of information on the importance of avoiding stagnant jokes, avoiding all the "ism" jokes, etc.

"Humor is something that thrives between man's aspirations and his limitations. There is more logic in humor than in anything else. Because, you see, humor is truth." ~ Victor Borge

Then I found some great pointers on repetition.

So by now I'm getting click happy and trying to find a way to turn my seriousness into humor.

I realized that I can't change my serious nature, so I'll stop reading all those crazy websites that tell me what I have to do to be funny.

Now see?  I think that is just hilarious.

I love the old humor (Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Foster Brooks, etc.).... Some of the new humor just doesn't do it for me... I absolutely despise shows which involve smart-ellec kids.... I don't like humor which offends someone, or makes fun of people... I love to laugh --and do it often. BUT--some things which people think are funny just isn't funny to me.

Hugs,
Betsy

We each have our own things we feel are funny and make us laugh. It's part of who we are.

If it's funny to you, then that's really all that matters. :)

I thought that was funny too. I think your Borge quote said it best, humor in logic. Don't fight the serious, it has it's place as well :)

I got through Fraiser phases and watch all ten seasons in a row. Love that kind of humor.

What we feel is not with our hands or eyes but our heart. What is good for one may not spread to others as well.Being able to laugh at ones self is a good realease.

I too, am a serious person. But I also love to laugh and KNOW I have a sense of humor... even if I don't find EVERYTHING funny; no one does (I second Betsie's comment here) . That is part of what makes us all unique. :D

Laugh on my friend... at whatever you deem funny! :D
